Generative AI before ChatGPT
My first projects with the GPT-3 API and the OpenAI Playground in 2021, before generative AI went mainstream.
How it flows
01Challenge
In 2021 hardly anyone at work knew what a language model was or what it could be used for. There were no examples to follow and no tools built for business users.
02What I did
- Tested GPT-3 through the API and the Playground to learn what it handled well and what it didn't.
- Turned those experiments into concrete business use cases.
- Explained to teams what was happening with this technology while it still sounded like science fiction.

04Outcome
By the time ChatGPT arrived in late 2022, I'd been working with these models for over a year and knew where they helped and where they didn't.
